Instructions
Step 1
Preheat oven to 375°
Step 2
Sautée the onion in the oil on medium low for 10-15 minutes, until soft and golden brown
Step 3
Line a sheet pan with parchment, or spray with nonstick spray. Roll the crescent dough out.
Step 4
Spread the horseradish sauce down the middle of the crescent dough.
Step 5
Lay down 4 slices of cheese down the middle on top of the horseradish. Then top with all the roast beef, the sautéed onions and the other 4 slices of cheese.
Step 6
Cut 2 inches into the crescent dough on the sides, each side. They should be about 2 inches apart and cut 2 inches in towards the filling
Step 7
Start at one side and fold the strips over the filling, one side then the other, overlapping them like a braid.
Step 8
Try to cover the filling as much as possible with the crescent dough but some gaps are ok.
Step 9
Mix together the egg and 1 tsp water. Brush that over the entire top of the crescent dough
Step 10
Bake for 30 minutes
Step 11
Cut into slices, optional to dip into warm French onion soup or au jus
