The eggnog
Step 1
In a medium saucepan, combine milk, heavy cream, egg yolks, sugar and nutmeg.
Step 2
Heat over medium heat, stirring constantly, until mixture is thickened and coats a spoon. (Do not boil.)
Step 3
Remove from heat; place pan in a bowl with ice and continue stirring mixture for two minutes.
Step 4
Add vanilla extract an stir well.
Step 5
Refrigerate until chilled.
