Instructions

Step 1
- Pre-heat oven to 180C.

- Pour boiling water over chocolate and butter. Stir until smooth and leave to cool slightly.

- In a different bowl, mix sugar, milk, egg and vanilla extract. Whisk in the chocolate mix.

- Combine flower, baking soda and salt well before whisking it into the chocolate mixture, make sure everything is incorporated well!

- Transfer into a 8-inch round baking pan coated with cooking spray or butter. Bake until a toothpick inserted in centre comes out clean. (Mine took about 40min)

- Leave to cool for about 10 minutes before removing from pan to a wire rack to cool completely.

- For ganache, bring cream just to a boil and pour over the chocolate. Whisk until smooth and leave to cool until slightly thickened. If you wish the ganache to be more fluid in order to pour over the cake, add a bit more cream.

- I topped with cocktail cherries and edible gold leaves, but this is entirely up to you!

- Red fruit in general works well with chocolate. Also orange works well too!
