melt butter

add cocoa powder, vanilla and salt

whisk sugar and egg together until sugar is basically dissolved, the mixture is pale and has risen in volume. An electric mixer helps, takes around 3 minutes

combine butter/cocoa mixture and sugar/egg mixture

fold in flour and salt
Step 6
add chocolate chips
Step 7
pour into a lined baking dish(I've used a 4×4 metal pan and cupcake tins and both work well, however you get around 5 brownies with the cupcake tins instead of 4.)

bake at 350 for around 18-25 minutes. Baking time can be adjusted based on the dish you're using
