Instructions

Step 1
Preheat oven to 350. Line a metal 9x13 pan with parchment and set aside.

In a 4 qt saucepan, melt butter and chocolate over low heat, stirring frequently. Remove saucepan from heat, with a wooden spoon, beat in 1.5 cups sugar. Add 4 eggs and 2 tsp vanilla and beat until well blended. Stir in sifted dry ingredients.
Step 3
In a small bowl with mixer at medium speed, beat cream cheese until smooth. Gradually beat in remaining 1/2 cup sugar. Stir in optional almond extract. Beat in remaining egg and 1/2 tsp vanilla.
Step 4
Spread 1.5 cups of the chocolate mixture into pan. Spoon cream cheese mixture over the top in 6 large dollops. (This will cover most of the chocolate-don’t worry). Spoon remaining chocolate batter in dollops over the cream cheese. With the tip of a knife, cut and twist through the mixture to create marble design.
Step 5
Bake 35-40 min or until toothpick comes out with only a few crumbs. Do not over-bake. Cool completely in pan on a wire rack. When cool, cut into 24 pieces. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days (if they last that long).
