Instructions

Step 1
Start with the crust. Combine the flour, cornmeal, salt, sugar, and yeast in the bowl. Add warm water (90°F) and 1/4 cup of melted butter and mix well. Cover and allow to rise for 1-2h.
Step 2
Roll the dough into a large 15×12 inch rectangle. Spread 1/4 cup of softened butter on top of the dough. Roll it up lengthwise & cut the dough log in half. Form into 2 balls and allow to rise in the fridge for 1 hour.
Step 3
While waiting, make the sauce. Melt butter in a medium saucepan. Add onion, salt, oregano, and red pepper flakes. After about 5 minutes, add garlic, tomatoes, and sugar. Turn the heat down to low-medium and simmer for about 30 min. Remove from heat and set aside until ready to be used.
Step 4
Preheat oven to 425°F. Roll out the dough into a 12-inch circle. Place over a 9×2 inch deep dish cake pan. Repeat with 2nd dough. Brush the top edges with olive oil. Fill each pizza with 2 cups/8 oz of mozzarella, add toppings you want and top with the sauce - 1 & 1/4 cups per pizza. Sprinkle with 1/4 cup parmesan cheese. Bake for 20-28 min and let rest for 10 min before slicing.
