Ingredients

3 ouncesalmond paste
⅓ cupgranulated sugar
½ cupbutter
softened to room temperature
2eggs
¾ cuphazelnuts roasted and ground
1 teaspoonvanilla
1tart shell
prepared, 9 - inch
½ cupchocolate
melted
4pears
firm, ripe, anjou, usa, peeled, cored, and sliced about 1/4 - inch thick
1lemon juiced
4 ouncesapricot preserves
melted and strained
Instructions
Step 1
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
Step 2
For the filling, cream together almond paste and sugar. Add butter and mix until smooth. Add eggs, mixing well after each addition. Add ground hazelnuts and vanilla and mix. Brush melted chocolate on the bottom of the prepared tart shell and pour in the filling.
Step 3
Bake for 35 to 40 minutes, until filling, is lightly browned and set in the center.
Step 4
Cool tart on rack. When the tart is cooled, toss pear slices gently with lemon juice to keep them from turning brown. Arrange pear slices in concentric circles. Brush completed tart with strained apricot preserves.
