Instructions

Step 1
Combine yeast with warm water and stir until yeast activates and becomes slightly foamy.
Step 2
Add dry ingredients to a bowl and mix. Then, make a crater In the middle of the flour mix and add the pumpkin, cream, water, egg, vegetable oil, and yeast mix.
Step 3
Mix dough until just combined. Do not over knead your dough or it will become chewy and dense when fried.
Step 4
Let dough sit covered in a dark warm place for 30 minutes to an hour. Then, roll your dough out and flatten it onto a clean countertop. Flour the top and bottom of your dough and cut into neat circles with a cookie or biscuit cutter.
Step 5
The donuts should look like flat cookies before fried. They will puff out into circles in the hot oil. Cut out the donuts holes with a tiny biscuit cutter or pinch holes with your fingers to give them a traditional donut shape. The shape of these are very forgiving once they're fried so don't worry too much about it!
Step 6
Fry the donuts in a layer of hot vegetable oil in a skillet. Fry until dark golden brown and cooked all the way through. No doughy texture in the center!
Step 7
While the donuts are frying, melt butter in the microwave until just melted. Add the syrup and powdered sugar and stir until smooth.
Step 8
Dip donuts in maple glaze and eat ~immediately~♡
Step 9
Or not! - these keep well for about a day in an airtight container. The glaze will cool and harden on the donuts if you want to bring them to friends or family!
