Instructions
Step 1
Rinse and drain dry peas.
Step 2
In a large deep pot, combine peas, water, ham, onion, bouillon and seasonings.
Step 3
Simmer uncovered 1 ½ hours.
Step 4
Remove shank, trim ham and return to pot, along with carrots and celery.
Step 5
Simmer uncovered another 2-2 ½ hours or until desired thickness.
