Instructions
Step 1
Add 3 cups of water to a saucepan and bring to a boil.
Step 2
While the water is boiling, remove woody ends from the green beans and cut in half, if desired. Add these to the boiling water and cook for 2 minutes. Remove from the water, drain, and set aside.
Step 3
Combine butter and olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat, stirring carefully until butter is melted. Add the minced garlic and diced shallot and cook until fragrant, about 3 minutes.
Step 4
Add the green beans to the skillet and stir well to ensure they are fully coated. Cook over medium heat until they are bright green and starting to blister, about 3-4 minutes. Remove from heat, season with salt and pepper, and serve.
