Instructions
Step 1
Preheat oven to 425F.

In a large bowl, sift all dry ingredients together.
Step 3
Add starter and mix until small clumps form. Add cubed butter and squish between your fingers so that large flat flakes form. Add your milk and gently toss around to moisten the entire mixture. Do not over mix.
Step 4
Dump this onto a floured surface and gather together, pat down until a square and fold one side over the other, pat down again and fold one more time.
Step 5
Pat into a rectangle that is 1 3/4 in thick.
Step 6
Using a sharp knife, cut out 8 square biscuits.

Place on a parchment lined baking sheet, an inch apart and bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown on top.

*Notes: You can use all AP flour if that’s all you got and if you have any whole grain flour, you could use that in place of bread flour. Before baking, you may brush the tops with heavy cream and sprinkle with flaky salt if desired. You could also add in ¼ chopped herbs and ½ cup shredded flavorful cheese with your butter for a hot take on those Red Lobster biscuits :)
