Home Bakery Chocolate Chip Cookies

Thank you to Ailene H. for this recipe. It's our favorite cookie. Not only do the cookies stay soft, but the recipe is easily modified to make a variety of cookie flavors.

Instructions

Step 1
Soften butter (about 13 seconds in the microwave does the trick).
Step 2
Cream sugars into butter with electric mixer until fluffy.
Step 3
Mix in eggs, salt, baking soda, and vanilla extract.
Step 4
Use a wooden spoon to gently stir in flour. Then gently stir in the chocolate chips.
Step 5
Measure dough into 1/4 cup portions and roll into balls. For smaller cookies, measure into 1 or 2 tablespoon portions. Place cookie dough balls on an ungreased cookie sheet a few inches apart.
Step 6
Bake cookies on middle rack (one sheet at a time) at 375°F for about 8-12 minutes until cookies are golden.
Step 7
Cool on cookie sheets until cool and firm.
Step 8
Serve immediately, or transfer to storage container.
