Step 1
Heat a little oil or butter in a frying pan over medium heat. Add the chopped onions and sauté until translucent and lightly browned.
Step 2
Add the diced chicken to the pan and sauté briefly until lightly browned. Stir regularly to ensure even cooking.
Step 3
When the water released by the chicken is almost absorbed, season with salt, black pepper, basil and paprika to taste. Mix well to coat chicken pieces with spices.
Step 4
Reduce the heat to medium-low and add the cream to the pan. Add the mustard for extra flavor. Stir gently to incorporate all ingredients.
Step 5
Simmer the chicken in the creamy sauce for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce thickens slightly and the chicken is cooked through.
Step 6
Just before serving, sprinkle the grated cheese or add the cheese pieces on top of the creamed chicken. Cover the pan for a few minutes to allow the cheese to melt.
Step 7
Serve hot and accompany this delicious creamy chicken dish with rice, pasta or vegetables, as you prefer.
