Step 1
You can make a basic dashi broth by place the kelp (kombu) in cold water and bringing to a boil. (I typically use about 20 g of kombu for 1 L of water)
Step 2
Lay your used kelp (kombu) on a sheet tray and placed in an oven preheated to 450 F for 10-15 minutes until roasted and dry.
Step 3
Let it cool down, then grind using whatever tools you want. I used a coffee grinder. Strain and store at room temperature for many months. The dryer you keep it, the longer it lasts.
