Perfect Falafel

Freshly prepared falafel are just something different... 🤤 This is how to easily make them at home:

Instructions

Step 1
Soak the chickpeas in cold water for 12 hours or overnight.
Step 2
Roughly chop the onion, garlic and herbs. Add to a food processor or blender and blend into a coarse mixture. If using a blender, blend in 2 or more portions to prevent overblending.
Step 3
Add the mixture to a bowl, then mix in the spices, salt and baking soda. Cover and let it sit in the fridge for at least 15 minutes.
Step 4
Using an ice-cream spoon or your hands, shape into balls or however you prefer your falafel.
Step 5
Heat the oil to about 170°C. (The oil is hot enough when a wooden spoon starts to sizzle)
Step 6
Carefully add the falafel to the oil and fry until crispy. Make sure they are properly cooked on the inside!

Step 7
Place on a kitchen towel and repeat with the remaining falafel.
Step 8
Serve in a pita or however you prefer and enjoy!
