Instructions
Step 1
Mix flour, water, oil and salt. Knead until well combined. Let the dough rest for 20 minutes.
Step 2
Divide the dough into 6 pieces, cover while working with one piece at a time.
Step 3
Roll out as thin as possible. Spread the dough with about 1 tbsp of butter (or ghee). Fold it like an accordion to create layers, stretch it out by slapping it on the working surface a couple of times, then roll it up into a disc. Rest for 10 minutes.
Step 4
Roll out your flatbreads, about 3 mm thick.
Step 5
Cook in a dry pan on medium heat for 3-4 minutes per side, (optionally set them aside to freeze for later) then add some vegan butter, oil, or ghee and fry each side until crispy. Give the paratha a quick scrunch to release any built-up steam.
Step 6
Serve with your favorite curry, raita or however you prefer!
