Hot water corn bread
The picture Is hot water corn bread and Is something many of us older folks remember our mother's making for supper many evenings. Yes a big pot of pinto beans and a green onion fresh out of the garden was a great combination. Although people make it different ways, here is a recipe you might try.

Step 1
Mix all ingredients in a bowl

Stir ingredients as you gradually add the hot water till dough is stiff
Step 3
Make dough into patties* wet hands with cold water before making patties- to avoid sticking

Fry in pre-heated greased cast iron skillet (if possible)
