Prep:5min
If you're a sesame seed fan, this recipe is for you. This mayo brings the perfect combination of sweet and savory, and with the final toasted sesame seed touch, it's simply irresistible. I usually prepare it when friends come over, and I serve it with crispy wheat crackers for the perfect match, and it's a total success. The video shows how to make the recipe using an immersion blender, but you can also make it in a regular blender without any problem, just check my notes. Instructions
Step 1
The video shows how to make the recipe using an immersion blender, but you can also make it in a regular blender without any problem. If you have an immersion blender skip this step and go to step 2. For regular blenders follow this steps: Pour all the ingredients except the oil into the blender. Start the blender on low speed, and when the ingredients begin to combine, start pouring the oil slowly. Imagine a thin thread extending from your oil bottle to the blender. Use the hole or window in the lid of your blender to pour the oil and avoid splashing. The first 15 seconds are crucial for the consistency of the mayonnaise. Pour the oil slowly, allowing the emulsification process to begin. As the mayonnaise starts to form, you can gradually add a little more oil. Continue doing this until all the ingredients are completely combined, and the mayonnaise reaches the desired consistency.
Step 2
If your sesame seeds are not toasted, you can toast them in a dry pan over medium heat for a few minutes until they become fragrant and slightly browned. Set them aside to cool. Check my video for visual instructions.
Step 3
In a blender, add the following ingredients: egg, pink salt, pepper, toasted sesame seeds, honey, and lemon juice. Allow the mixture to rest for one minute.
Step 4
Carefully place the blender inside the jar, ensuring it touches the bottom.
Step 5
Start the blender and keep it firmly at the bottom for at least 10 seconds. This will facilitate the emulsification process.
Step 6
Once you see the mixture getting thicker, lift and lower the blender slowly, making sure not to go above the top of the mixture. Continue doing this until all the ingredients are thoroughly combined.
Step 7
Season the mayonnaise with additional salt and pepper to taste.
Step 8
Transfer your homemade mayo to a clean glass container and store it in the refrigerator.
