Step 1
In a medium sauce pan add your blackberries, water, sugar, and lemon zest.

Turn the stove to medium-low heat for 5-8 minutes, making sure to stir slowly and gently until the blackberries have released their juice and the sugar has melted. Bring the mixture to a low simmer for about 2-3 minutes, then take it off the heat.
Step 3
Pour the sauce into a small bowl, through a strainer (or cheese cloth) in order to remove the seeds.
Step 4
Add the lemon juice, a pinch of salt, and a splash of water to the blackberry sauce (while it's still warm), and mix.
