Ingredients

1 cupsugar
7 ozbutter
softened
4eggs
medium, beaten
1 ¾ cupself-rising flour
3 Tbspcocoa powder
1 tspbaking powder
2 Tbspmilk

Instructions
Step 1
Preheat oven to 375 F. Butter two 8in round cake pans and line with nonstick baking parchment.
Step 2
In a large bowl, whisk al the cake ingredients together until you have a smooth, soft batter.
Step 3
Divide the mixture between the pans, sooth the surface with a spatula, then bake for about 20 minutes. Turn onto a cooling rack and leave to cool.
Step 4
Place the cream and sugar in a pan and heat until it is about to boil. Put the chocolate in a bowl and pour the cream over. Stir until the chocolate melts.
Step 5
Sandwich the cakes together with a little bit of ganache. Pour the rest over the top and sides of the cake and smooth over with a palette knife. Decorate as desired.
