Ingredients
10 servings
1 cupunsalted butter
at room temperature
1 cupsugar
⅓ cupDutch process cocoa
½ tspground cinnamon
1egg
large
2 teaspoonsinstant coffee powder
1 teaspoonvanilla extract
1 teaspoonwater
2 cupsall-purpose flour
For the icing
Instructions
Step 1
1. Beat unsalted butter, sugar, cocoa powder and cinnamon in a large bowl. Beat in egg. Stir coffee powder, vanilla and water in a cup to dissolve coffee. Beat into butter mixture. On low speed, mix in flour just until blended. Wrap and chill until firm.
Step 2
2. Roll dough on a well-floured rolling surface into 2-3-inch logs and place 2 inches apart on an ungreased cookie sheet. Bake for 8 minutes or until crisp at 375 degrees.

For icing:

1. Place confectioners' sugar in a medium sized bowl, gradually stir in hot milk until smooth.
Step 5
Stir in 3 tablespoons butter until blended then add remaining ingredients. Spoon icing into corner of a plastic bag, snip off the tip of the corner, drizzle zigzag design on cookies.
