Ingredients

2 tablespoonclarified butter
or ghee
500gpotatoes
small, quartered
0.5red onion
medium, finely diced
5 clovesgarlic
minced
2green chilies
thinly sliced
2 teaspoonscoriander powder
1 teaspoonchili powder
1 teaspoonsalt
1 teaspoonseven spices
500gground beef
finely chopped
1 cuptomato
pureed
½ cupcilantro
chopped, plus more to garnish
20gginger root
peeled and thinly sliced to garnish, optional
1red onion
small, thinly sliced to garnish, optional
Instructions
Step 1
Heat the ghee in a heavy-bottomed pan over medium heat, add potatoes and cook until golden brown for about 15 minutes, remove with slotted spoon and set aside on a kitchen towel.
Step 2
In the same pan, on medium heat add the onions and sauté until become translucent, for about 5 minutes, stir in the garlic, green chilies, coriander powder, chili powder, salt, black pepper, and seven spices, continue cooking for another 5 minutes.
Step 3
Increase the heat and add the ground beef, breaking it up with a masher for a fine texture, cook the beef until brown and heated through for about 10 minutes.
Step 4
Stir in the tomato puree and increase to high heat, cook for 10 minutes, add the chopped cilantro then, reduce the heat and simmer for another 5 minutes, stir in the reserved potatoes, mix and stir for 1 minute.
Step 5
Turn off the heat, garnish with some chopped cilantro and the sliced ginger and serve hot with Lebanese bread.
