Step 1
Mix sugar, butter, shortening until well blended. Add egg and vanilla and mix thoroughly. Combine flour, baking powder, baking soda and spices. Stir well into the sugar mixture. Stir in the sour cream. Cover and chill (overnite). Divide dough into 3 parts. Select 1 part and return the rest to the fridge. Roll to 1/4" thick on lightly floured, cloth covered board or pastry sheet. Cut as desired. Place 1" apart on UNgreased cookie sheet. Bake 6-8 min at 400 degrees until light brown on the edges. Cool on wire rack.
For the Frosting:
Step 2
Mix powdered sugar & jam in bowl until evenly blended. Add milk - 1tsp at a time - until smooth and of spreading consistency. Frost cooled cookies.
