Green Bean Alfredo Casserole with Bacon

. Make everything as directions say except leave off the crunchy onions- when it comes time to make it set it out on the counter and let it come to room temp- about 20 minutes. Place in the oven for 30 minutes, remove and add crunchy onions, then place back in for about 5 minutes or until the onions are crispy/golden.

Instructions

Step 1
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In a medium skillet, add diced bacon and cook for a couple of minutes. Add onion, and continue to cook bacon and onion together until the bacon is crispy, and onions are golden and caramelized. Add minced garlic and cook together for about 30 seconds or until fragrant. Reduce heat to low and add green beans to pan. If want green beans softer cook in microwave 4-5 minutes before adding. Stir together and let sit for a few minutes while making the sauce.
Step 2
In a medium sauce pan over medium-high heat, add olive oil and allow it to heat up for a minute or so. Sprinkle in flour a little bit at a time while whisking constantly. Slowly pour in milk followed by chicken broth. Continue to whisk constantly until it reaches a gentle boil. Reduce heat to low and add in the Parmesan cheese, a little bit at a time, while whisking. Continue to whisk for a couple more minutes until thick. Make sure to Salt and Pepper to taste!
Step 3
Spray a 3 quart casserole dish with cooking spray. Add half the green bean mixture followed by half of the sauce, then the rest of the green bean mix, and then the rest of the sauce evenly over the top. Place into preheated oven for 30 minutes. Remove from oven and stir well. Add crispy french onions on top. Place back into oven for about 5 minutes, or until golden brown.
