Brigadeiro (Brazilian Chocolate Truffles)

7 steps
Cook:15min
This delicious Brazilian sweet is a beautiful combination between caramel and chocolate! It's super easy to make and really hard to mess up! All you have to do is cook the condensed milk until it becomes thick, cool and roll into little balls of yumminess.

Instructions

Step 1
In a medium-sized saucepan, combine the sweetened condensed milk, instant coffee, cocoa powder, and butter.
Step 2
Cook the mixture over medium heat, stirring continuously to avoid burning. Keep stirring until the mixture thickens and starts to pull away from the sides of the pan. This process usually takes around 10-15 minutes.
Step 3
Once the mixture has thickened, remove it from the heat and chill it in the fridge for 1 hour. This will make it easier to handle when forming the brigadeiros.
Step 4
Grease your hands with butter or oil to prevent sticking. Scoop out small portions of the mixture and roll them into bite-sized balls (about 1 inch in diameter) between your palms.
Step 5
Roll each brigadeiro in chocolate sprinkles until they are evenly coated. You can also use other coatings like grated coconut, crushed nuts, or chocolate shavings.
Step 6
You can chill the brigadeiros in the fridge for a firmer texture if you'd like!
Step 7
Enjoy!
