Instructions

Step 1
Add the juice of a oranges into a measuring and add water till the 1/4 pint mark.
Step 2
Add the liquid, zest and dates to a pan and cook down on low heat until mushy.
Step 3
Melt your butter in a saucepan and add the sugar oats and flour, combine into a crumble.
Step 4
Line a baking tin with greaseproof paper and spread half the crumble evenly on the bottom. Spread over the date mixture then finish with the other half of the crumble and smooth it all down.
Step 5
Heat the oven to Gas mark 4/350F/180C and bake for 30 minutes. Optionally bake it for an extra 5-10 minutes until the top is golden brown.
Step 6
Cool in the tray before cutting.
