Prep:15minCook:12min
Ingredients:
• 2 cups all-purpose flour
• 1 tablespoon baking powder
• 1 teaspoon sugar
• 1 teaspoon salt
• 6 tablespoons cold unsalted butter, cut into small pieces
• ¾ cup whole milk (or buttermilk for a tangier taste)
Instructions:
1. Preheat Oven: Start by preheating your oven to 425°F (220°C).
2. Combine Dry Ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk together 2 cups of all-purpose flour, 1 tablespoon of baking powder, 1 teaspoon of sugar, and 1 teaspoon of salt.
3. Cut in Butter: Add the cold butter pieces to the flour mixture. Using a pastry cutter or your fingers, cut the butter into the flour until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
4. Add Milk: Make a well in the center of the flour mixture and pour in ¾ cup of milk. Stir gently with a fork just until the dough comes together. It should be a bit sticky.
5. Knead the Dough: Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface. Gently knead it just a few times to bring it together.
6. Roll and Cut: Roll the dough out to about 1 inch thick. Use a biscuit cutter or a round glass to cut out biscuits. Reform the scraps and continue cutting until all the dough is used.
7. Bake: Place the biscuits on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake for 12-15 minutes or until they are golden brown on top.
8. Serve: Enjoy your biscuits warm! They are perfect with butter, jam, honey, or your favorite gravy.
