Instructions

Step 1
In a stand mixer, bread machine, or kneading by hand, knead all ingredients to form a smooth dough ball, adding additional flour until it’s no longer sticky.
Step 2
Place dough ball in an oiled bowl, cover, and place in a warm spot for one hour or until it has doubled in size.
Step 3
Lightly punch the dough down and put it on a lightly floured surface and roll it out to be about 1 inch thick.
Step 4
Cut or roll into desired shapes
Step 5
Boil a pot of water on high heat adding about a 1/4 cup of baking soda to create a lye bath. Boil each pretzel for about 25-30 seconds each.
Step 6
Place pretzels on a parchment paper lined baking sheet, brush with egg wash
Step 7
Bake at 400 degrees Fahrenheit for 10-25 minutes, depending on the thickness of your pretzels, until they’re brown.
