Preheat your oven to 190°C/170°C Fan/Gas 5

Peel, core and slice the Apples into chunks, the bigger the pieces, the more crunch you will get.

As you are cutting the apples, put them in a bowl of water to prevent browning!

Next, start the crumble. Add the flour to a clean bowl.

Then the sugar and a pinch of salt. Mix it together so it's evenly distributed.

Next, measure and cut the COLD butter into small cubes. MUST BE COLD.

Put the butter into the flour mix and use your fingertips to pinch and rub the butter into the dry ingredients.

It does take some time so trust the process. Make sure all of the butter is mixed in properly. NOTE: Once it's done, try not to mix it too much because the butter will soften and it will turn into a dough instead.

DRAIN the water from the apples and Add the brown sugar to the apples.

Add cinnamon if you wish.

And a teaspoon of Corn Starch. This is so that there isn't too much moisture in the apples. It won't change the flavour :)

Mix the apples with the sugar and corn Starch. Get a square dish, (18-20cm would be good) Spread the apples on the bottom.

Then sprinkle the crumble on top. NOTE: If you want bigger crumble bits, get a handful of the crumble and smush it together, then break it apart gently.

Pop it in the oven for 25-30 mins. (You know it's done when the crumble is slightly browned and the apples are oozing out the sides)
