A perfect combination of layered pasta, meat sauce, and various types of cheese. The original recipe does not use mozzarella, but it is a great addition. It is easier to combine the noodles and meat sauce and adding them as layers instead of adding the noodles and meat sauce separately. See instructions for order of layers.

Ingredients

1 lbground beef

½ conion
chopped

2 x 8 ozcans tomato sauce

1 tspsugar

¾ tspsalt

¼ tsppepper

4 cmedium egg noodles
uncooked

1 ccottage cheese
cream style small curd

1 x 8 ozcream cheese
package, softened

¼ csour cream

⅓ cgreen onion
sliced

¼ cgreen pepper
chopped

¼ cshredded parmesan cheese

2 cshredded mozzarella cheese
Instructions
Step 1
Brown meat and onion in a large skillet.
Step 2
Stir in tomato sauce, sugar, salt, and pepper.
Step 3
Remove from heat.
Step 4
Cook noodles according to package directions. You may want to start this process at the beginning and let the noodles cook while preparing the meat sauce.
Step 5
Combine cottage cheese, cream cheese, sour cream, green onion, and green pepper.
Step 6
Spread half the noodles in a casserole dish and top with half of the meat sauce.

Step 7
Cover with the cheese mixture.
Step 8
Add remaining noodles and top with remaining meat sauce.
Step 9
Add shredded mozzarella and sprinkle with parmesan cheese.
Step 10
Bake at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 30 minutes or until cheese just begins to brown.
