Instructions
Step 1
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
Step 2
In a large skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef or venison with the chopped onion. Season with garlic powder, paprika, rosemary, salt, and pepper. Cook until the meat is no longer pink and the onion is translucent. Drain excess fat if necessary.
Step 3
In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooked meat mixture, cream of mushroom soup, stock, and milk or cream. Stir until well combined.
Step 4
In a greased 9x13-inch baking dish, layer half of the sliced potatoes at the bottom. Pour half of the meat mixture over the potatoes, then sprinkle with half of the shredded cheese. Repeat the layers with the remaining potatoes, meat mixture, and top with the remaining cheese.
Step 5
Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake for 1 hour. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes, or until the potatoes are tender and the cheese is bubbly and golden.
Step 6
Let the casserole cool for a few minutes before serving.
