Was craving some chinese bbq pork, so I decided to whip up this recipe! Surprisingly, you can create delicious chinese style bbq pork right at home using your air fryer. The sugar gets nice and caramelized creating some delicious texture and flavors.

Step 1
For the sauce mix together your sugar, oyster sauce, rice wine vinegar, soy sauce, chinese 5 spice, onion powder, garlic powder, and salt. Adjust taste to your preference.

garlic powder1 tsp
kosher salt½ tsp

Optional: Add a few drops of red food dye to give it that classic red color you see in the restaurants.

Grab your pork butt and begin slicing into 1 - 1 1/2 in steak size pieces. You want them to be this thick so they can cook slower and not burn too fast.

In a large bowl add your pork and cover with the sauce. Combine everything and marinate for at least 1 hour or overnight.
Step 5
Preheat air fryer to 350 degrees.
Step 6
Arrange your pork in a single layer. Air fry for 20-30 minutes, flipping every 10 minutes.
Step 7
You will notice the sugar will caramelize through the cooking process, but not burn, due to the larger pieces that were cut.
Step 8
Remove your pork and repeat with any additional pieces.
Step 9
Let cool for 5 minutes and then slice into thin strips.
Step 10
Plate with some sliced cucumber and enjoy!
