Instructions

Ingredient Prep

Step 1
Mince ginger.

Slice yellow onion into half rings.

Remove stones from lentils. Rinse and drain.

Grind mustard seed and cumin seed.

Caramelized Onions

Melt butter in frying pan over high heat.

Reduce heat to low and add yellow onions and cumin. Stir to coat.

Cook for approx. 1 hour and stir every 10 minutes.

Cook for another 30 minutes and stir frequently.

Put lentils, vegetable stock, tumeric, minced ginger, ground mustard and cumin, and diced tomatoes in a large pot.

Bring to a boil. Reduce heat to a simmer. Simmer for 25 minutes. Until lentils are soft.

Blend with immersion blender until smooth.

Stir in milk and salt.
