Step 1
Pat the rib eye steak dry. Season generously with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and thyme.
Step 2
Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Sear the steak for 2-3 minutes per side until nicely browned. This step adds depth of flavor.

Transfer the seared steak to your crock pot.
