1. Prepare the Meat Sauce: Heat olive oil in a pan over medium heat. Sauté onion and garlic until softened. Add ground beef and cook until browned. Stir in crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, sugar, herbs, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 20–30 minutes, stirring occasionally. 2. Prepare the Cheese Mixture: In a bowl, mix ricotta (or cottage cheese), mozzarella, Parmesan, egg (if using), and parsley. 3. Assemble the Lasagna: Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F). Spread a thin layer of meat sauce in a 9x13 inch baking dish. Layer noodles, meat sauce, cheese mixture. Repeat 2–3 times. Finish with a layer of noodles, remaining sauce, and extra mozzarella/Parmesan on top. 4. Bake: Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove foil and bake for another 15–20 minutes until top is golden and bubbly. Let rest for 10 minutes before serving.
