Instructions
Step 1
BOLOGNAISE
1. Using a medium-sized aucepan with a lid, pour in the oil, and when hot, add the onions and garlic, and cook over a low heat until very soft (5 to 10 mins). If using basil stalks, add them now. 2. Now add the beef and cook until brown, stirring regularly to avoid clumping, 3. Add the tomatoes, stir in and cook for a few minutes, and then fill the tomato can with water and add that. You can use red wine instead of water for a richer flavour. 4. Add salt and pepper, and any other flavourings you feel like, and then cover and leave it to cook over a low heat. The longer you cook it, the better it is, and it can cook for hours, but you need at least 30 mins. 5. Take of the lid and let the liquid cook off until it is a saucy consistency. In the meantime cook the spaghetti as per the instructions. Do not overcook the spaghettil 6. When the spaghetti is cooked, as basil leaves to the sauce if using, and combine the spaghetti with the sauce until it is evenly distributed
Step 2
GARLIC BREAD
1. ix together the butter and garlic until thoroughly combined 2. Slice up the baguette, without actually completely severing the slices, and then generously spread the garlic butter between each slice 3. If going for the cheesy version, put a slice of mozzarella between each slice of bread. 4. Wrap the baguette in tin foil and put in the oven, pre-heated to 200C. Bake for 15 mins.
