Step 1
1. Preheat oven to 350

2. Cream butter, shortening, and brown sugar until fluffy

3. Add in egg yolk and vanilla (set egg white aside)

4. Combine flour and salt, slowly incorporate into wet mixture

5. Divide dough into 20 balls
Step 6
6. Beat egg white in small bowl, dip each cookie into egg white then coat in walnuts
Step 7
7. Place dough balls onto cookie sheet and press thumb or spoon into it for indentation, then freeze for 15-20 minutes
Step 8
8. Bake for 16-18 minutes, add jam in once cooled
