Caramel-Jam filled Chocolate Cake

Instructions

Step 1
Preheat the oven to 180°C.
Step 2
Combine everything, except the egg whites.
Step 3
Whisk the eggs until stiff and fold into the mixture.
Step 4
Cover and coat two round pans with butter and powder.
Step 5
Divide the mixture between the two pans and place in preheated oven for 45 minutes or until a skewer comes out clean.

For Chocolate Frosting

Step 6
Place butter in a bowl and beat until it becomes pale.
Step 7
Add half the icing sugar and cocoa powder.
Step 8
Add remaining icing sugar and cocoa powder.
Step 9
Add milk and vanilla if using.
Step 10
Spread onto the bottom layer, topped with a layer of caramel, and a layer of jam. Add the second layer of cake and coat the cake in icing.
