Instructions

Step 1
Season & sear (optional but recommended): Season beef steaks with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Quickly sear in a hot skillet to lock in flavor.
Step 2
Layer in crockpot: Place beef in the slow cooker. Add sliced onions if desired.
Step 3
Add gravy base: Pour in beef broth and a gravy or sauce mixture (cream of mushroom, onion soup mix, or brown gravy works great).
Step 4
Slow cook: Cook on LOW for 6-8 hours or on HIGH for 3-4 hours until fork-tender.
Step 5
Serve: Spoon rich gravy over the beef and serve with mashed potatoes, rice, or egg noodles.
