SCRUMMY! Quite a crumbly slice, but most delicious! Margaret & Chappie lived in Arrowtown and were great friend's of Cam & Lil Sneddon. Cam & Chappie did building/joinery together in Dunedin.

Sift flour and baking powder, add the other ingredients. Melt butter and syrup together. Mix into dry ingredients. Press into greased sponge roll-type tin. Pop in oven. Cut when take out of oven and still soft. Leave in tin to set.
