Instructions
Step 1
Preheat oven to 425°F. Coat 9-inch cake pan with spray; set aside.
Step 2
Combine in large mixing bowl: self-rising flour, sugar, and 1/2 teaspoon salt until blended.
Step 3
Add shortening to flour mixture and mix well, using two forks, until pea-size crumbs form.
Step 4
Stir in cream and buttermilk until just blended.
Step 5
Add all-purpose flour to shallow dish.
Step 6
Evenly scoop and roll dough into 12 (2-inch) dough balls; dredge each ball in flour and flatten slightly on floured work surface. Arrange each floured, flattened dough round in prepared pan, in single layer (tightly with edges touching).
Step 7
Bake 20-22 minutes, until lightly browned. Meanwhile, melt butter.
Step 8
Remove biscuits from oven and brush tops with melted butter.
Step 9
Invert pan and transfer biscuits to wire rack; let cool 5 minutes.
