Step 1
Preheat oven to 400°. In a large skillet over medium heat, heat oil. Chop onion and cook until soft, about 5 minutes. Stir in tomato paste and garlic and cook until fragrant, about 1 minute more.

Add ground turkey and cook, breaking up meat with a wooden spoon, until no longer pink, 6 minutes. Season with chili powder, paprika, cumin, garlic powder, crushed red pepper, dried oregano, and salt.
Step 3
Place peppers cut side-up in a 9"-x-13" baking dish and drizzle with oil, then cover with foil. Bake until peppers are tender, about 35 minutes.
Step 4
Spoon turkey mixture into each pepper and top with shredded cheese, then bake uncovered until cheese is bubbly, 10 minutes more.
