Instructions
Step 1
Cut onion into 3/4 inch slices on the diagonal.
Step 2
Peel the potatoes and cut them in half. (If you get Yukon gold baby potatoes, don't peel them)
Step 3
Heat sesame oil in a pan
Step 4
Add the sliced meat by slice so they don't stick and saute for 1 minute.
Step 5
Add the potatoes and onion and saute for another minute.
Step 6
Add the dashi and season with soy sauce, mirin, sake and sugar.
Step 7
Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to medium, cover the pan and simmer for 10 minutes.
Step 8
Remove the lid and simmer for another 15 minutes to reduce liquid, stirring occasionally.
Step 9
Remove from heat when liquid has reduced by 1/3.
Step 10
Serve and sprinkle with sesame seeds and freshly chopped green onion
