Instructions

Step 1
1. Preheat oven to 350 2. Make the browned butter. In a medium skillet, melt ½ cup of the butter over medium heat. Cook, stirring often, until browned, 2 to 3 minutes. Remove the skillet from the heat and let the browned butter cool slightly. Transfer to a heatproof bowl and stick in the freezer to cool off completely, 10 to 15 minutes. 3. Make the dough. In a stand mixer fitted with the paddle attachment, beat the browned butter, the remaining ½ cup of butter, the brown sugar, and the granulated sugar until combined, 2 to 3 minutes. Add the eggs and vanilla and beat until creamy, about 1 minute. Add the flour, baking soda, and salt and beat until combined, about 1 minute. Fold in the chocolate chips and chocolate chunks. 4. Using your hands, roll the dough into rounded tablespoon-size balls. Place on the prepared baking sheet, spacing the cookies about 2 inches apart. 5. Bake until the cookies are just beginning to set on the edges but are still doughy in the center, 8 to 10 minutes. Let the cookies cool.
