0.5 lbItalian sausage
sliced

1 cuponion
chopped

1 cupred pepper
chopped

8 ozmushrooms
sliced

1clove garlic
chopped

1 Tbspchili powder

1 tspturmeric

1 cupbrown rice
cooked, or white rice, not instant

2 ½ cupschicken broth
more if needed

1 cuproma tomatoes
chopped

1 Ibshrimp
raw, shelled and deveined

1 cupfrozen peas
uncooked

Instructions
Step 1
In large deep skillet, brown sausage. Remove and drain on paper towels. Leave just enough fat to sauté the veggies.
Step 2
Add onion, mushrooms, pepper, garlic, chili powder and turmeric. Sauté for 3 minutes.
Step 3
Add rice and stir until coated. Add the sausage and broth; cover pan and simmer slowly for 15 minutes.
Step 4
Uncover pan, season with salt and pepper. Add the tomatoes, shrimp and peas.
Step 5
Cover the pan and cook 8 to 10 minutes until rice and shrimp are cooked.
