Instructions
Step 1
Bring water to boiling. Add tablespoon of salt. Add 1/8 cup extra virgin olive oil. Add spaghetti noodles and cook according to package directions. After draining noodles, allow 2 tablespoons butter to melt over spaghetti noodles to keep them from sticking together.
Step 2
Meanwhile, in a large pot over medium-high heat, cook ground beef until browned, about 6 minutes. As the meat cooks, use spatula to break it up into smaller crumbles.
Step 3
Drain excess oil and fat from the pan. Return to heat.
Step 4
Add the onions, garlic, optional mushrooms, oregano, parsley, basil, and garlic powder, and cook, stirring every once and a while, until onions are softened, about 5 minutes.
Step 5
Reduce heat to low. Add diced tomatoes, tomato paste, and spaghetti sauce. Stir until mixed well. Cover pan. Allow to simmer for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Step 6
Serve meat sauce over spaghetti noodles.
Step 7
Optional: Serve meatballs, grated parmesan, and chopped parsley over spaghetti sauce. Great with Garlic Texas Toast.
