13 steps
Prep:20minCook:20min
Beijing Beef is my favorite go-to menu item at Panda Express. This recipe features the Beefless version of this popular dish. It is sweet, tangy, crunchy, and chewy all at the same time. Served over noodles and make a delicious plant-based dish.

Instructions
Prepare The Beyond Meat
Step 1
Remove Beyond Meat sausage patties from its package. While they are frozen, carefully use a sharp knife to cut each patty into 3 fairly equal pieces. Cutting them while frozen allows you to easily cut them; they are a bit difficult to cut evenly when thawed.
Step 2
Leave cut pieces of meatless sausages at room temperature to continue to thaw or defrost.
Step 3
Once thawed, add "beef" pieces to a bowl and season with soy sauce, balsamic vinegar, and complete seasoning. The sauce will allow the cornstarch to stick and coat the beef pieces.
Step 4
Drizzle corn starch over the beyond meat Beijing beef pieces. Use a spoon to gently mix ensuring all the pieces on each side are coated.
Let's Fry Some Beyond Meat Beijing "Beef"
Step 5
In a cast-iron pan, heat vegetable oil for 2 minutes on high flame.
Step 6
Lower heat to medium. Gently lay each piece of the sausages into hot oil and brown for about 1 minute on each side. Remember, this is plant-based. In comparison to beef, Beyond Meat plant-based products do not take a long time to cook.
Step 7
Remove from oil using a tong and place on paper towel to drain excess oil. The cornstarch gives the beyond meat "beef" a very crispy texture.
The Sauce
Step 8
In a small saucepan, combine all these ingredients: ketchup, sweet and sour sauce, brown sugar, honey, soy sauce, pimento seeds, vinegar, paprika, teriyaki marinate, garlic powder, and balsamic vinegar.
Step 9
The sauce can be heated for 1 minute to help dissolve the sugar and marry all the ingredients together. Stir constantly to avoid burning.
Step 10
Take some of the remaining oil used for frying the beyond meat and pour it into a wok. Over medium heat, add the cubed onion and red bell pepper to oil and stir. Cook for 1-2 minutes.
Step 11
Pour the sauce onto the onion and pepper mixture and continue to cook for another 1-2 minutes while stirring with a spoon.
Step 12
Add the crispy fried plant-based Beyond Meat to the Beijing sauce mixture. Tossed and stir ensuring that all the "beef" is coated with sauce.
Step 13
Turn off heat and serve warm. I served my Beijing Beef with noodles. I always order Lo Mein with my Bejing Beef when I visit Panda Express.
