Instructions
Step 1
Heat 2 Tbsp oil in Dutch oven over med heat. Add onion, garlic, pepper flakes, and bay leaf. Cook until onion is translucent. Stir in tomatoes and their juice. Use potato masher until tomato pieces are no larger than 1".
Step 2
Stir in bread and sugar. Bring to a boil, then simmer until bread starts to break down, about 5 min. Discard bay leaf.
Step 3
Blend with immersion blender. Stir in chicken broth and brandy. Simmer and season with salt and pepper.
