Wash the sauerkraut in the strainer, if very sour.
Step 4
Boil ~1,5 – 2 l water in a big pot with the broth cubes. Then add the sauerkraut, bay leaves, peppercorns. Boil on a medium heat for about 15-20 minutes (until the sauerkraut becomes softer).
Step 5
Preheat a little oil in the frying pan and sear the chopped onion. Bake until soft, take out from the pan, set aside.
Step 6
In the same skillet preheat some more oil, put the grated carrots (grate with a bigger grater), fry them until slightly soft.
Step 7
Add the roasted carrots, onion, sliced bacon in a soup. Season the soup with salt, dried dill and boil it until the sauerkraut gets tender (about 10 more minutes). Taste whether no additional salt or sourness are needed (if you need more sourness – add lemon juice or sauerkraut liquid).

>> If the soup is too sour – add extra boiled water or a little sugar.

Puode užverdame ~ 1,5-2 l vandens su sultinio kubeliais. Sudedame raugintus kopūstus, lauro lapelius, pipirų žirnelius. Verdame ant vidutinės ugnies apie 15-20 min (kol kopūstas šiek tiek suminkštėja).

Į kopūstus sudėti kepintas morkas, svogūną, supjaustytą šoninę, pagardinti druska, džiovintais krapais ir virti, kol kopūstas suminkštėja (dar apie 10 min). Paragaukite ar nereikia papildomai druskos ar rūgšties (jei reikia rūgšties – įlašinkite citrinos sulčių arba raugintų kopūstų skysčio).
