Slow-cooker Rustic red wine braised Beef Short Ribs

Ingredients

2 poundsboneless English-style short ribs
boneless if possible
2onions
chopped white, shallots, etc mix is good
2 tblspgarlic
minced
whole tomatoes
can, do not drain
2 cupsdry red wine
1 cupbeef broth
strong
½ cupfresh basil
chopped
4 sprigsthyme
2 sprigsrosemary
½ teaspoonred pepper flakes
salt
pepper
Instructions
Step 1
Season short ribs with salt and pepper; brown well in pan. 2 min per side; nestle into slow cooker.
Step 2
Sauté onions in same pan; stir in garlic
Step 3
Stir in tomatoes and remaining ingredients. Pour over meat in slow cooker pot.
Step 4
Cover and cook until beef is tender and fork slips easily in and out of meat, 8 to 9 hours on low or 5 to 6 hours on high.
Step 5
Transfer short ribs to serving dish, tent loosely with aluminum foil, and let rest while finishing sauce.
